Chris Lewis is an American sculptor and landscape artist who produces site-specific sculptures within natural and urban settings. He lives and works between Brooklyn and the Hudson Valley. In 1996, he studied in Pietrasanta, Italy under Andrzej Lemiszewski, a Polish-Danish sculptor whose use of organic materials inspired Lewis’ process of large-scale sculptures. His forms, often inspired by nature’s oceanic forces, resist the technological structure of order and predictability. As a resistance against the delete-after-one-month digital culture that pressures our working world, Lewis creates sculptures that stand the test of time.
